Hey Everyone! My name is JC Apolo, and I’m the co-owner of Cana Project. We are based in Melbourne, Australia.
The name Cana is rooted in a verse from the Gospel of John 2:1-11 (NABRE), where Jesus performed His first miracle at a wedding in Cana, turning water into wine and blessing the celebration with His presence. This story symbolizes transformation, joy, and the sanctity of marriage, which speaks to us in a profound way. It inspires us to see the sacredness and beauty of celebrating two people coming together to commit their love.
As Christians, we understand the depth of religious ceremonies, knowing exactly where to be in the church and how to capture your story discreetly while respecting the sacredness of your venue.
We work with traditional and cultural couples who are candid, romantic, and family-oriented, seeking emotion-driven photography and videography.
For us, it’s about more than just photography or videography—it’s about celebrating your journey in the most authentic and sacred way.
Our Journey…
First wedding gig - November 2019
It all began when we were part of a Christian community called CFC Youth For Christ. Our journey into photography and videography started there, where we became the documentation team, capturing moments at events like conferences, youth camps, and other gatherings. One of the highlights was when we documented the Pentecost event in Melbourne, along with other Christian communities. We saw the power of capturing those special moments, but what truly moved us was the joy on people's faces when they saw the final photos and videos.
As we started editing these memories, we realised how much we enjoyed what we were doing. That’s when we began to dive deeper into the craft, learning about camera angles, settings, color grading, and even how to create storyboards. Our passion grew with every project, and before long, we were asking ourselves, “What more can we do with these talents?”
That’s when weddings came into the picture. We saw weddings as a way to give back and to send the message that God is with us in every journey. We wanted to create films that reminded couples of their heartfelt promises to each other, capturing the sacredness of that day. However, we had no idea where to begin or how to get clients. But then, someone from a Christian community told us that a friend was looking for a videographer for their wedding. That was the break we needed, and it opened the door for us.
Fast forward to today, and we’ve been blessed to document over 40 weddings, not just in Melbourne but in other states like Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide. It’s been an incredible journey, filled with blessings. Even though COVID-19 hit Melbourne hard in 2020-2021, slowing things down, we feel like we’re starting fresh again with renewed energy.
Our dream is to become Melbourne’s #1 wedding videographer and photographer, and we want you to be part of this journey with us.
